The appearance was a soft muddy brown color with a finger and a half’s worth of off white foamy head that fell off at a mild pace. Soft stringy sliding lace.
The aroma had some sweet to roasty nuts and some butterscotch up front. Light caramel to toffee malts and some toast sit in the background.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side of the previously mentioned aromas and touching down on a nice dampened malty aftertaste. Semi-quick malty sort of finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation and the ABV felt fine. Fairly smooth along my tongue.
Overall, nice brown ale worthy of having again.

The appearance was a fairly dark copper almost brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Soft stringy lace.
The aroma had some earthy/grassy/hay-like qualities over top of some dried caramel/toffee malts. Light toast, some herbal qualities and a little bit of cardamom end up rounding it out fairly nice.
The flavor seemed to balance all of the previously mentioned aromas together fairly nice. Which leads to a fairly dry sort of malty and earthy aftertaste and an even drier finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Cardamom doesn’t block the sessionability of this as I thought it would have. Just seems to balance fairly nice. ABV felt fine.
Overall, another nice brown ale by the folks at Blackrocks. They do know how to do this style well.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a semi-dark copper to burnt orange somewhat like a brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that held for a little bit and fell off at a gentle pace. Stringy semi-foamy lace.
The aroma had some sweet barley/grainy tones, red delicious apples, light cotton candy, sweet woodiness, some grassy hops and ends with a little bit of leathery earthiness.
The flavor keeps the sweetness of the malts forward to bring about the previously mentioned aromas to meld finely. Some butterscotch adds in slightly and then everything seemed to come together in the aftertaste to ride on into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Moderate semi-sweet smoothness wants to lay down on my tongue but grips some carbonation for a nice balance. ABV felt fine.
Overall, nicely done barleywine leaning towards the English side. This is way better than their barrel aged version, to me at least.

The aroma had some sweet caramel with some pomme-like fruits. Some brown sugar and dried leaves. Light milk chocolate and then some woodiness.
The flavor had a touch of sweet malty booziness playing with the wood, somewhat dryly. Slight aftertaste of malts. No finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Low carbonation and the ABV felt just a tad under than what was projected by the brewer.
Overall, unsure if I would have again, maybe not necessarily to seek out. But thanks Jeff for the can.

The appearance was a mostly dark brown color almost black color with a cap of a little white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace.
The aroma had some roasty coffee and chocolate malty notes hitting against some spicy chipotle peppers. Mild toast and then a subtle herbal quality at the end.
The flavor leans roasty and sweet initially and then pops the spice from the peppers in a subtle slight balancing sort of way. Leans to the roast and sweet sort of aftertaste and same finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping ability to allow the peppers to permit a certain harshness along my tongue. Quaint, yet nice.
Overall, pretty good spicy, roasty and sweet stout dropping the semi-\"palate wrecking\" quality on me. I’d have again if I could get it.

Just as the name implies, the appearance, yes is a milky brown color with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated pretty quick. Just a touch of lace.
The aroma had some roasty coffee notes up front and then some milk chocolate and some nuts with some leathery/earthy hops at the back.
The flavor leans towards the roasty side and brings in the earthy hops to play with the chocolate tones. Aftertaste has a ton of dried grassy/earthy hops, comes across very dry and leads into the finish.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall light brown head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of super pungent fresh mint, a lot of roasted malt, some bitter coffee and caramelised sugar notes and a good dose of chocolate throughout. Medium-bodied; Assertive mint flavours with some funky fake mint/essence noticed along with some lactose and cream sweetness, but the smooth and roasty malts are definitely there along with some dry yeastie finishes. Aftertaste is very dry, but showing a lot of mint, some good oak and vanilla notes and a lot of smooth malty and chocolate finishes. Overall, a good mint-based stout with a smooth complexity that shows nice flavours and a rich sweetness that persists throughout. Nice to sample and perfect for the season. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016 for US$2,59 sampled at home in Washington on 02-April-2017 while Spring is approaching, especially down south here.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Sly stringy lace.
The aroma started with the roasty tones of the porter quality, some cocoa bean, and coffee portions. Maple seems to be quite toned down.
The flavor, once again, keeps the roastiness, cocoa bean, and coffee up front. Maple is short and seemingly only to touch the taste. Quick robust coffee/cocoa bean aftertaste with the maple just touching the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. No stickiness from the maple.
Overall, normal porter as it is with the maple barely there. I didn’t mind for me, but maple fans might be disappointed with the lack of a big presence here.
