Cask at The Penny Black, Bicester, Oxon, 07-11-09 Pours mid amber. This came across as a typical British Bitter, crisp bitterness, nice bite, easy drinking, slightly dry at end, enjoyable and a good accompaniment to my large breakfast that I failed once again to complete. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask-conditioned at the Savoy, Swindon 29/10/09. Pale amber with a slight white head. Aroma of sweetish cereal malts, some fruit and a trace of spicy hop. Malty flavour, with some dusty hops and bitter finish. Ok.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Brown colour, lasting off white head. Not much aroma. Some soft hop and yeast and soft fruit. Some almost spice in the flavour which carries in onto the finish. Very good condition. Some hop sting on finish. Very drinkable. OK bitter.

(On tap) Clear, dark amber - almost orangey brown - with a tiny, off-white head. Surprisingly subdued aroma - perhaps a little licorice and and yeast. Also surprisingly the body only feels medium and very unusual for a Belgian style ale the carbonation is rather low. Broad palette of flavours though, a little yeast, a little aniseed and some oranges. The alcohol is scaringly well hidden and the low carbonation makes it terribly quaffable. The finish is dry and lightly astringent and the alcohol really starts to show. 070208

(On tap) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Light aroma of caramel and a little flowers. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel and a discreet bitterness. Rather clean just not all that thriiling - as very few Viennas are. 070208

(On tap) Clear, golden with a creamy, white head leaving a pretty lacework. Fresh, lightly floral aroma. Medium body with a solid, clean malt base and a dry, hoppy finish. Very clean and well made. 070208

(On tap) Clear, golden with a creamy, white head leaving a neat curtain of laces. Aroma of malt and perhaps a whiff of flowers. Medium body with a solid, lightly sweet malt base and a dry finish with a surprisingly discreet bitterness. Not quite as characterful as could be expected from a Bohemian Pils. 070208

(Cask) Clear, dark brown with a warm tint of red and a small, beige head. Fantastic and vinous - almost port-like - nose. Medium in body, low in carbonation. Dry, hard roasted malt accents - but not really burned. Again some lovely vinous accents and some dried fruit. Distinct malt astringency. 070208

(Cask) Clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Fruity, lightly citrusy aromas. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel and a low carbonation. Lovely notes of fruit and caramel - and again some vitamins. Dry finish with a moderate bitterness. Lovely. 070208
