Taster at the Carter Payne. Pours a murky, brown color, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is apple, vanilla, rubber cement, carrot, heavy tannins, and lavender. Sweet and sugary, with a dank, almost acrid bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a syrupy, biting palate. This is a strange beer. I like the barrel character, but the mixture with a weakly hoppy ale is unfortunate.

Medium to heavy body, with a crisp, clean palate. This is a beautiful, malty brown, with a subtle hit from the adjuncts.

Heavy body, with a syrupy, dusty, and grainy mouthfeel. This is an aggressive and complex brown ale. Nice.
