Bottle from Olbutikken, Copenhagen, shared with Lorna, Paul and Jason in my hotel room. Hazy amber beer, big pale cream coloured head. Light dry palate. Bretty citrus. Lemony orange seltzer like minerals. All in a light fluffy palate. Semi dry finish with some alcohol warmth but no obvious alcohol taste.

On tap. Pours an opaque deep black with a creamy light brown head. Very thick roasty aroma, slightly coffeeish. Rich body, yet with a fairly dry roastiness and what appears as a slight chili bite. Ends malty bitter. An interesting brew indeed that doesn’t appear nowhere near 10.1% 120512

Starker, leicht kaffeeartiger Beginn. 11/12/11/12/10/12

Bottle shared at Klooster, Delft. Black pour with a beige head. Aroma is licorice, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is roasted, chocolate, licorice and coffee. Body is a little thinner than I would prefer for the style, and carbonation higher. Still a good beer though.

Draught. Good roasted aroma. Black colour. Small dark brown head. The flavour is roasted with a burning sensation. Like chili, perhaps hop burn but there is not so much hop flavour. Must be chili.

750 ml bottle bought @ Ølbutikken. Pours very hazy pale golden  with a big frothy and fizzy white head thy slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet, fruity and yeasty with wheat crackers, lemon zest, peaches, hay, dry soil, cloves, white pepper, yeasty esters, lemon juice, ginger and biscuits. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and tiny sour with tangerines, cloves, wheat crackers, white pepper, dusty barnyard, lemon zest, apricots, yeasty esters, hay and plums. Mouthfeel is watery, tiny tart, tiny dry, tiny dusty and light bodied. Finish is bitter and sour with crackers, dry soil, lemon zest and hay. Had this with sushi which, as expected, turned out to be a great match!

Sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Smokey, peppery and roasty aroma, balanced by sweetish malty notes, lovely. Sweet, malty and roasty flavour, the smokey and peppery notes are fairly moderate, the coffee notes linger in the aftertaste. A pretty impressive beer.

Bottle, thanks to Ken at a Pre-Sour & Bitter hotel tasting. It pours hazy amber, with a thick beige head. The nose is spice, farmyard, hay, citrus pith and alcohol. The taste is farmyard, spice, citrus pith, boozy, dry, dough and way, with a warming finish. Medium body, moderate-high carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. A decent beer, but a bit too much alcohol for my liking.
