Can (12/5/22) pour from Candia First Stoppe Country Store. It's a lightly hazy golden yellow with tons of sparkle, finger-plus width white foamy head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is mix of musky herb, citrus, floral and pine. Taste is initial generic fruit followed by herbal component, then pine and biscuity malt finish. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with lingering dry mild bitterness. Overall, I like how the flavors go in succession rather than competing with each other. Not a ground-breaking IPA by any means but well crafted!

Bottle, undated, but 2022 vintage, drunk 2/24/23. Dark with maroon highlights, possibly clear. Small-to-medium, light-tan head, moderate-to-low retention. Rich, almost port-like nose with candied chocolate and prune. Vanilla, light maple traces and very soft rum. Caramel is nice and intense. Everything evened out and homogenized by the barrel. No booze, no rum sharpness. Lovely. Different in the mouth, not in a bad way necessarily, but more rum than expected based on the nose. Still the light candied port and caramel with vanilla, spicy rum and mineral. Really nice texture. Rich and malty but great attenuation. No syrupy notes, but still a pleasing viscosity. Great balance.

Brewery draught, 2/2/23. Clear tangerine-golden. Medium-sized, white head with good retention. Lightly juicy, citrusy nose with solid base malt adding honey, biscuit and cracker. Lots of tangerine, spiciness and a touch of bread/caramel. Not boozey or resinous though with some pine emerging on the finish with warming/breathing. Soft, fairly malty, good attenuation. Citrus, lots of tangerine giving a floral-citrus character. Pine on the finish with a brace of strong bitterness. Biscuit, cracker, bread from the malt easily balances. Lawson's IPAs are so hard to characterize. Equal parts Old School East Coast, West Coast and New England. Maybe not fully my favorite thing but I can respect the cleanliness and execution that goes in to them.

Brewery draught 2/2/23. Dark, ebony, maybe some deep burgundy highlights. Dark beige head, moderate retention. Good clarity. Dark chocolate and espresso with light, sticky vanilla and brown sugar. Hint of licorice and some nutty, vinous maple character with more fudge, espresso and cacao on the finish. No alcohol noted. Soft, well-textured with a milk chocolate and fudge like sweetness in concert with vanilla and maple. Kept dry by peppery, fruity roasted notes and espresso character. Bit of breadiness and no booze. This really walks a delicate line between being malty and rich enough and yet not too sugary. Gains more balance and complexity with warming/breathing.
