Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Poured from 330mL bottle. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Lots of coffee on the nose, taste of mild coffee, tons of vanilla, mild roast malt. touch of bourbon barrel. Decent. Unlike the last version (Event Horizon), I don't feel like this will improve with age... it is what it is.

330ml shared with Ryan (thx, for a pick-up, dude!) @ Alex's. Appearance: brown with almost no head. Aroma: sweet with a spicy apple-ish character coming from the Amburana barrel. Taste: along the same lines, spicy, reminds me somehow an apple pie with spices. Overall: pretty good, but from the cost/benefit standpoint it's not a winner for me. Considering other less expensive heavy beers around here from Twin Sails or Backcountry I would give them my preference over this one.

Re-rate: Poured from 330mL bottle (w/ the brewnosers). Amburana is great here. Feel it’s improved, especially the nose. May 9, 2022 (7/3/8/3/15=3.6): Poured from 330mL bottle. Medium dark brown with very minimal beige head. Vanilla and a touch of cinnamon, that Amburana barrel is really working hard here, feint hint of bourbon. Unfortunately, the rest of the beer isn't as full bodied as I would have liked. Really this is just an average beer that's really held up by the qualities of the Amburana wood.

Dark brown colour, not black. The aroma is malty, bready, with caramel, a touch of molasses, of cacao, and of vanilla. Full bodied, and soft mouthfeel; there is some dark caramel, dark sugars, burnt sugars, molasses, and a hint of cacao, not the usual profile for an Imperial Stout; there is definitively alcohol warmth, but it's not boozy, the alcohol is well integrated; notes of vanilla and dry cacao in the finish.
Aroma and flavour are not as roasty as most, common, Imperial Stouts. Very good.

Dark mahogany colour. Mild aroma of malt, and alcohol, and light vanilla. Full bodied, moderately sweet; good malt base, with biscuity notes; if I think of it as an English Barley Wine, it has some more caramel, burnt sugars, and less malt, toffee; strong, warming alcohol, but it's well integrated, not boozy; notes of coconut and vanilla; it gets a bit less sticky in the finish.
Excellent.

330ml on Alex's porch. Appearance: brown with a weak beige head. Aroma: malty, dark fruits, moderately sweet, barrel. Taste: quite sweet, dark fruits, weird to me barrel(?) notes, finishes with some hoppy(?) bitterness and a bit of booze. Overall: not very impressed, unfortunately.

330ml on Alex's porch. Appearance: brown with a tan head. Aroma: bourbon, toffee, caramel, moderately sweet. Taste: boozy, but quite smooth while drinking, lots of toffee and bourbon barrel, some dark fruits. Finishes with a slight hoppy bitterness. Overall: it's ok, kind of more close to European Imperial Stouts in terms of tasting profile than to American ones (which I prefer), but, of course, it is much more bourbon and barrel forward than European ones.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Aromas of soft bourbon and dark caramel. Flavors of nutty chocolate caramel, like Turtles chocolates, straight bourbon, and oily roasted malts. Bourbon alcohol is somewhat dominant by the end.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with light head. Aromas of caramel, woody rum, raisins, biscuity malts and a bit of phenols. Flavors of sweet rum, toffee, candi sugar, raisin bread and bittering hops. Dry finish with some alcohol flavors, but not giving away too much of the 14% ABV. Solid Barley Wine. Will be neat to see how this ages.

Re-rate: poured from 330mL bottle shared with Marduk, FatPhill (+Anna), and Martjoobolut. Same as before, but just past its peak, back down to 3.9. July 30, 2022 (8/3/8/4/17=4.0): Poured from 330mL bottle (tasting with Jean-Francois & Derek). Huge dark dried fruits, toffee, hint of rum and coconut. Booze has settled nicely compared to when I had it fresh on tap. April 10, 2022 (8/3/8/4/16=3.9): Poured from the tap. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Lots of dark dried fruits, touch of coconut from the rum, and a hint of ethanol heat. Booze doesn’t linger though which is nice. Pretty good, but maybe needs some time to settle. Will re-rate from the bottle down the road.
