Tap:Hazy, murky-brown coloured, loose off-white head, sweet and quite mild caramelly-smoky nose with traces of chocolate and - maybe - some well hidden hops; solid sweet and less bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; smoked Parma-ham, chocolate and dark toasty malt in the silky sweet-bitter finish. Very pleasant stuff…

Bottle(BKL2014): Reddish-golden, almost clear, small to medium-sized off-white head, pear-juice and grassy and piney hops in the nose; moderate sweet and delicate bitter flavour, medium bodied; the finish is dominated by peary aromas, supported by dome grains and some malt. Not bad, but not only because of the stupid name diappointing…

75 cl bottle @ Timo A. #3661400, BBE 23.04.2018
Aroma is odd with tar, some juniper notes and tart berries. Also some smoke, peaty notes and vanilla. Flavour has strong herbal notes, bourbon and spices. Also some citrus, woody notes and tart berries. Finishes with weak whisky sting. Reminds me of some overspicy christmas ales.

75 cl bottle vintage 2013 @ Timo A, BBE 23.04.2018
Aroma is quite odd with citrus notes, some caramel, apricot, cinnamon and hints of grass. Flavour is rather tart with intensive citron aromas, some green apples, some flour, yeasty notes and mint. Some meady honey notes too. A bit messy. Definitely not your typical (heller) doppelbock – I would take this a Belgian (sour) ale. Hides the ABV very well.
