Description
Since 1663 the brewing trade has remained in direct family hands. The fathers always passed the art of brewing beer on to their sons. And that's still the case today! All the Georgs, Johanns and Leonhards brewed their beer here in Pahres with fresh water from the same brewery's own well. In the past also with self-grown Aischgründer hops.

The Hofmann brewery has grown to its present size under the leadership of Georg Hofmann and delivers its beer within a radius of up to 60 km from the brewery chimney. Since 1990 responsibility has been in the hands of Georg Hofmann.

Bottle 0,33 ltr: Clear golden coloured brew with an dry bitter taste with hints of lemon, also grassy aroma. Reminds me of the northern German Beck's but much better.

Bottle that we picked up from Sulzberger Bierhaus, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm on Saturday. Drinking this Monday 16th December 2024 listening to Steve Lamaqs evening session on 6Music cooking Beef Carbonnade Pies with Potato Croquettes, Carrots and gravy. Pours clear dark amber with a fast disappearing white head. It's a touch boozier than I'd like but not harsh. Nice mouthfeel, smooth, sweet with molasses and a little dried fruit, perhaps date? Yeah fine but I was hoping for a bit better.

Tap at the Winterbauer-Keller I think. Full, clear golden body, off-white head. Herbal, caramelly, okayish aroma. Dry caramelly maltiness, herbal hoppy taste, bit light. Okay, tasty, not the best of notes, hah.

Tap at Protokoll with Timo, February 27th! Ruby-cola body, off-white head. Caramel and light dog food in the aroma, touch of dried plum. Sweet taste, dried... err... somehow effed up dried fig to be perfectly honest, what a weird combo. Drinkable enough, not sure I'm enjoying the malt profile.
