Description
In the beginning of 2014 a small adventure begun, a brand new microbrewery called ELIXI was born in the area of Chalkida. A microbrewery focused on the production of craft beer products characterized by the absence of pasteurization and filtration as well as with the use of the traditional way of fermentation inside the bottle.
A family business whose members come from completely different business backgrounds and experiences which can be shown in the diversity of the labels and brands produced.
Since the first moments of its operation has invested in the establishment of a new state of the art brewery in the area of Drosia in Chalkida. The selection of the location was based on the excellent quality of the local water as well as its geographical position near the main motorway of the country.
The premises cover an area of 1000m2 and house cutting edge equipment for the production, bottling and storage of products.
In March 2023, Sofoklis & George Panagiotou, owners of Septem Microbrewery, acquired Elixi, which is the second microbrewery operating in Evia.

33cl bottle: BB Oct 2017. Drank on 12th Oct 2017, some 12 days too late. View over Nidri Marina from our hotel room balcony makes any beer seem gorgeous and this one fits the bill nicely. Misty haze to the golden body, white blanket of foam on top, dark sediment 'floaters' took a while to settle, sunny view helped as I waited to sip the beer. Malty and semi-sweet to taste, aroma also malty/grainy first. Slight sourness within the flavour, might be because of the age and where it has been sat since being brewed, adds complexity though and isn't unpleasant (another month and it may well have been undrinkable). Let's just say the beer 'was on the turn'. Still liked it.

330ml bottle: BBD Apr 2018. Obtained on the island of Lefkada and drank in my hotel room in Nidri on 7th Oct 2017. Misty straw coloured with a weak white head. Fairly fizzy body wise with a yeasty feel. Slight herbal and spicy notes to the flavour, more malty than hoppy in nature and both refreshing and different for a Greek brewed beer. Liked it.
