Clear dark golden with a fluffy head. Metal, lard, roasted malt, grain and straw, lemon. Metallic bitterness, grainy malty sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft to lively carbonated, metallic grainy bittersweet finish. Not as good as expected.

Clear champagne golden with a small creamy head. Lemon zest, metal, grain, floral hops, some lard. Hoppy metallic bitterness, some grainy sweetness. Light boiled, oily watery texture, soft carbonated, metallic grainy bittersweet finish. Nice Pilsner, not that Franconian as expected.

Reddish to brown pour, depending on light, quite clear. Relatively big off-white, large bubbled head. Good enough retention and lacing. Fair intensity in the aroma: caramel malts with a quite distinct honey presence, delicate underlying notes of brown/rye bread with it's hint of spiciness, perhaps a fruity hint (nothing clearly discernible). A soft, quite clean aroma. Taste notes follow the aroma pretty closely, with good taste definition and intensity. Medium sweetness, quite low bitterness. Quite sweet in the overall balance, even for a dunkel, but still well balanced overall, with a clean mouth and a dryish enough finish. A hint of fruitiness lingers in the aftertaste. Quite light in body with pretty light, very delicate carbonation, resulting in a very smooth, slightly silky mouthfeel; goes down even easier than expected for the style, maybe almost too quick. Overall impression: very similar to their fastenbock (taste notes and silky character) though of course lighter. All in all, very much likeable.

Op tap bij Wilde Rose Keller. Uit Stein. Moutig-zoet, fruitig, appel, grassig, wat alcohol, licht bloemig, niet zo zoet als deze stijl kan zijn, vol, degelijk bitter. Lichte tot medium body. Prima.

Im Glas erscheint dieses Pils strahlend goldgelb und klar. Die weiße, weitestgehend feinporige Schaumkrone wirkt dabei wässerig-flaumig und hält gut. In der Duftaromatik geht die leicht getreidige Malznote in schöne, grasig-heuige Hopfenaromen über. Der Antrunk kommt frisch, fein- aber deutlich rezent, zartsüßlich malzig und heuig bis kräuterig-würzig hopfenaromatisch. Im Mundgefühl präsentiert sich ein schlanker und sehr eleganter Körper mit feiner Rezenz, sehr seidiger Textur und angenehmer Trockenheit. Geschmacklich und aromatisch setzen sich die bisher vernommenen Aromen gut fort. Der leicht süßlichen, getreidigen Malznote und einem Hauch von Zitrus stellen sich grasig-heuig-kräuterige, zart würzige Hopfenaromen gegenüber und sorgen für eine pilstypische, hopfenbetonte Charakteristik, der es aber nicht an Ausgewogenheit fehlt, da sich die Bitterkeit sehr zurück hält. So entstehen sowohl ein gutes Gesamtbild, als auch eine schöne Drinkability. Im Nachtrunk klingen die bekannten malzigen und hopfigen Noten schön nach und weichen einer zunehmend kräftiger werdenden Bittere.

Optisch dunkles braun, grobporiger Schaum. In der Nase röstig, Malz. Im Trunk malzig, Schoko, Zartbitter, passt.

Pours dark red, looks brownish and opaque with reddish hues through light. Medium sized head, a bit off-white/greyish, good enough retention, close to no lacing. Average to slightly sub-par average intensity in the aroma (at least for the abv): caramel malts with quite clear honey notes, fruity notes suggesting a mix of red and dried fruits (raisins most clearly discernible), a bit of alcohol warmth. Overall a quite simple aroma, feels pleasantly warming though. A bit more complexity (and maybe more intensity) in taste: caramel malts with a pleasant, well integrated honey note, fruity notes as per aroma, a touch of warming feel, hints of floral hops in a dry enough finish/aftertaste. Good taste definition. Leans definitely towards sweetness, perhaps even per style, but still feels nicely balanced with a bit of alcohol attenuation and as mentioned a dry enough finish. Medium body with quite low, delicate carbonation; feels light and very easy to drink for the abv but not empty, with a pleasant silky, slighty warming feel. Maybe not an intense doppel tastewise, but well made and enhanced by a very nice mouthfeel. Overall pretty nice.
