Draught @ Greifenklau, Bamberg. Pours hazy orange with a small creamy head and lacings. Lots of sweet marmelade, Smoke and phenols. Appley green and woody.

At the Keller of Greifenklau in Bamberg-Germany, gravity keg if I remember right. This was my last beer of a long day (I have had a blackout after it), but I remember it as a very tasty and nutty one. Pours a dark orange color going amber with a long lasting off-white head. Nose is roasted malts and bread crust. Great! Mouth is more caramelized malts with a fresh hint of bread and nuts.

Tap at the brewery. Described by the waitress as “Dunkles Märzen,” but posted on the wall as “Rotes Märzen.” Cloudy dark brown with orange tints and a tall, fine head. Malty caramel nose, a bit worty, brown sugar. The flavor is sweet but burnt caramel and brown sugar. Very sweet and somewhat roasty. Body is thin and sugary. This is not really my thing, although it is interesting. The burnt caramel gets to me.

Tap at the brewery. Fine pillowy head. Deep gold to amber color. Malty, rich, bready nose with grass and herbs. Slightly worty and doughy. Sweet, rich, bready malt flavor, caramel, toast, rich and malty but not cloying. Prickly, herbal hops. Fantastic body. Sodft carbonation, sofy and silky. Gets better as it warms. Rich and sueffig.

Klare kräftig goldene Farbe, schöne weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, leicht fruchtig, floral, getreidig. Geschmack würzig malzig, leichte florale Noten, minimal rauchig, interessant!
