Description
Great Beer Above All Else
Surly: The frustration we felt when we couldn't find a good beer, much less a great one, in Minnesota. So we made some.
Great beer is all that really matters. Well, that and pushing your limits a bit, looking out for your people, taking pride in where you’re from, and having as much damn fun as you can while doing it.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a pitch black with a creamy and lacing beige head. Distinct smoke in the nose - both peat and Bamberg smoke? Solid body, carbonation is a little low, somewhat rubbery, sweet roast, heavy smoke with a fairly malt bitter finish. Nice alright. 230511

Much dryer than the previous Impy Stouts I’ve had tonight, but very, very smooth and slowly becoming delicious. The chocolate and coffee are the flashiest of flavors, but the darkly sweet undertone, one of fruit and liquor, solidifies the brew, maintaining its depth as the beer drifts towards a dry, spicy finish. Glad we saved this bottle for last, since it proves to be the best stout of the night. Vampire Vintage.

Can’t help but like killer IPA that comes from a can. Pours amber and bubbly, with a nose of grapefruit and lemon zest that powers down your sinus cavity. Sweet yet oh so hoppy, the nose on this IPA is brilliant. The citrus-juiced hops follow through into the flavor, yet there’s a danish-like malt center that give startling balance to this 100 IBU behemoth. A single IPA this big that is this easy to put back makes for quite the achievement. (3/2/09)
