Pours a solid black with a good size tanish head that sticks with us for a while. Smell is the usual suspects, coffee, chocolate, a bit smokey, but with some grassy hop aroma in the distance. Taste is a bit hoppy with roast coffee, chocolate, some dried fruits. Full body, oily/creamy mouthfeel, ample carbonation. Left a slight ash aftertaste in my mouth. Great RIS I wish it were more widely available.

A careful pour left me with a crystal clear medium amber brew with a thin white head that left quickly. Lots and lots of lace on the way down the glass. Aroma contains some dried fruits and spicy hops. Tastes of bready malt, spicy, peppery, earthy, barnyard funky, quite complex tastes coming through. Great crisp carbonation, medium body, leaves a spicy taste in your mouth. Overall I was surprised by this one. This is not my favorite style of beer, but I rather enjoyed this tasting tonight.

Big Can of course Thanks to ditmier. Pours out straw topped with a cream white head. Aroma was tons of pine, citrus, some caramel sweetness, and rich malts. Taste was more of the hop leading the way but a good thick rich malt to keep the hops in check. Tasty

can at home thanks to cbkschubert! (25Jan11) Pours deep orange, mildly hazy with a medium white head, spotty lacing. Aroma is full of huge hop notes. Pineapple, citrus zest and some grass. Flavor is balanced really well. The hops are really big but there are underlying biscuit and sweet hay notes. The hops are so sweet/juicy/bitter all at the same time, which I think is what makes this beer so good to me. It’s not just a hop assault drying out the finish of a beer, but a layered citrus and tropical fruit concoction that is equal parts "sweet and fruity(not in a sweet way)" and "bitter and abrasive." I really like this stuff, thanks again Craig!

Can. Deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head. Big, bright hop aroma of pine, resin, grapefruit, pineapple and flowers. Notes of caramel and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, thick texture, lively carbonation. Chewy malts, but the fresh hops dominate. No doubt there are huge amounts of hops here. Tastes of citrus, grapefruit, grass, plants. Nice double IPA. Thanks for sharing wnoble.

pitch dark, smooth small light brown to yellow head. roasted aroma, almost charchoal, coffee, dry and very tight roasted aroma. flavor is coffee, roasted stuff, licorice, mild hoppy balance, ends dry, roasted and coffee. excellent.

Can. Poured a near clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice combination of pine and grass with some nice backing grain, malts and lager yeast. Flavor was similar with a nice balance of hops (pine/grass) and malts (biscuit/bread.)

My second of four cans thanks to tytoanderso. Canned 17 days before drinking. Maybe a little bit less fresh than I like my Pliny, but not bad considering its coming across country. Pours with a hazy golden body and a firm off-white head that doesn’t ever fully leave and gives great lace. Aroma is super dank. Weed, citrus, tropical fruits, pine needles, caramel, candy, mango. All around goodness. Flavors of tropical fruit, table sugar, caramel, mango, pine, melon, citrus, grapefruit. Probably the best non-West Coast IIPA that I have ever had. Lively bubbles. Properly dry. Lingering fruity-hop-goodness. Much more hope flavor than bitterness. This is how a DIPA should be made. If I could pick up a sub-3 week old 4 (or 6) pack of this every week I would (even as a compulsive ticker). Not quite as good as bottled PtE (my standard when fresh) of the same freshness level, but still one hell of an amazing Big IPA! That’s a HUGE complement!

500mL can, sent from Glouglouburp, pours hazy copper with a white head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus and caramel malt backing. Flavour is definitely hoppy, but not over the top, with citrus and floral notes - it's quite nicely balanced, with a hoppy, but not so bitter, aftertaste. Quite nice, if a tad underwhelming.

Bottle thanks to my cousin! Poured a clear dark brown with with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of a combination of espresso and lactose with a bit of backing roasted malts. Flavor starts with espresso and is joined by sweet milk, a bit of light chocolate and a good amount of roasted malts.
