Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.
We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!
Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!
Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

Poured from a 375 ml bottle. Aroma is rich and malty with lots of toffee, dark caramel and tootsie rolls. Notes of burnt sugar, treacle and lighter notes of chocolate, roast and molasses. Lighter notes of raisin, prune and date notes. Medium alcohol and light whiskey notes with some lighter oak notes. Pours black with dark brown hues on the edges with a medium sized, fairly thick, mocha head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers as a thin film that eventually disappears. No lacing and super long legs. Flavor is super sweet with lots of malt character. Tons of caramel, toffee, burnt sugar and tootsie rolls. Lighter notes of treacle, chocolate and roast. Some hints of molasses, toasted bread and nuts. Medium light raisin notes with lighter prune and date notes. Fairly high bitterness and moderately strong alcohol notes. Medium bourbon notes and light oak. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium high alcohol warmth. Overall, a big, boozy, dark barleywine. Tons of malt character and alcohol notes that bring with it some dark, candied fruit notes. Barrel character comes through nicely. But this is just too big and boozy of a beer for me these days.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated September 16, 2024. Aroma is malt forward with notes of toasted bread, caramel, toffee, honey and nuts. Light hop notes of grapefruit, pine and dank resin. Hints of alcohol. Pours a clear, dark amber color with copper and auburn hues and a large, thick, pillowy, tan head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderately strong malt notes of toasted bread, burnt caramel, toffee, honey and lighter notes of nuts. Medium high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Light hop notes of pine, dank, oily resin and grapefruit pith. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid red/amber ale. I'm honestly not sure the last time I had a beer of this style. Nice malt profile with a fairly assertive bitterness but lighter hop notes.
