Description
Our mission has been to produce vibrant, quality and innovative beer with a truly authentic team of humans since 2015. Structures Brewing was founded by James Alexander after spending years working at breweries in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.
In 2021, forces were joined when Bryan Cardwell partnered with James. Bryan comes from a background of world class brewing experience in Washington and Oregon. Together they have meshed their skills of brewing great hoppy beer and lager beer... while also loving to explore the realms of curiosity in Imperial Stouts, Barleywines and Smoothie Sours.

On tap at Structures - Original, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma has a decadent bourbon barrels, molasses, dark sugars, and moderate roast. Flavour is complex, with a wonderfully woody bourbon barrel character, medium roast, some molasses, and booze. Rich, boozy, bourbon-forward, with plenty of vanillin on the finish. It’s not peak-elegant; the barrel character seems rather harsh, but it is wonderfully brewed no doubt.

On tap at Structures - Holly, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals a wonderful mix of white wine hop character from the Nelson and dry piney hops—good mix of hop origins. Flavour is dry, with lots of bitter piney hops, white wine notes, citrus, and biscuity malt. Piney, bitter and tangy. Excellent.

On tap at Structures - Holly, pours a cloudy dull yellow with a small white head. Nose is dominated by the Citra upfront—intense allium—with the Nelson creeping up in back. Doesn’t smell hopburny. Flavour is more of the sams, with lots of gooseberry, allium galore, and gentle hopburn. The Nelson is nice here and then Citra actually works okay—tons of allium but somehow tastefully. Solid hazy.

On tap at Structures - Holly, pours a deep dark mahogany, almost no head. Nose has plenty of dark dried fruits, caramel, and gentle bourbon. Flavour is quite boozy, bringing out a fair bit of brown sugar, alcoholic heat, not actually that much bourbon, and dark dried fruits. Nearly flat carb. Definitely some nice flavours here but somewhat lacking cohesion. Surprisingly unfocused for these two giants of breweries, but still good.

On tap at Structures - Holly, pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma has a nice piney hop character, dry bready malt, and a touch of citrus. Flavour is crisp, bright, and bitter, bringing out a ton of woody piney hops courtesy of the Chinook, backed by a dry bready malt base. Nice bitter, dry finish. Great WC hop expression. Excellent.

12oz @ Ryan's shared with Phill.
Aroma: caramel, dark fruits, some American oak.
Taste: along the same lines, quite boozy and more like on the thinner side.
Overall: it's pleasant enough, but not as great as Bertha or a Structutes/Horus collab.

Poured from bottle. Dark brown with dissipating light beige head. Nice dark fruit and bourbon notes, some prunes on the backend, a touch boozy, but enjoyable.

Aroma: American oak, bold, some sweetness, a bit fruity, a little bit of grassy notes (🤔).
Taste: along the same lines, moderately sweet, boozy, and slightly fruity, some burnt barrel.
Overall: quite good, but not as great as from the last year anniversary to my taste.

Black, no head, aroma has great umami, bourbon, with some dark sugars. Deep dark malt, stinging roast, light fruitiness. Great flavour, not super complex, but excellent.

Aroma: smells like a Belgian quad - a lot of Belgian esters, some oak, and creamy notes from oak. Hm... 🤔
Taste: a lot of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, moderately sweet, noticeable booze, some light bitterness
Overall: a bit weird mix of quad (65-70%) and barleywine (30-35%), enjoyable ((c) Ryan 🤪).
