Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with figs, dates, raisins and prunes. Light caramel and toffee notes with hints of chocolate. Pours brown with auburn hues and a medium sized, moderately thick, dark tan head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Flavor has a medium to medium light sweetness with some caramel and toffee notes. Hints of chocolate with light bitterness and medium light acidity. Some tart cherry, raisin, prune and plum notes. Faint oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent Flemish style sour. Good fruit and malt notes. Alcohol is well hidden and acidity is balanced.

Nothing like being to the party early. Here we go with Darkest Hour - Port Barrel Aged. The Cellar in Odessa had this 22 oz bomber on hand for to bring to the house. I lift the cap and pour the contents into my ABGB tulip glass. Great presentation, midnight black body with a sticky, dark brown top. The nose is fine too, chocolate, vanilla perhaps, raspberry. A drink delivers, yes, it delivers. Bakers chocolate, tobacco, caramel and toffee, chocolate malt. Do I detect the barrel, I believe I do, hanging in the background. Moderate bitterness. I think Deep Ellum has a winner.

Bottle split at Cotts Convention III, picked up from GBBF '16 IIRC, 20/05/17. Rich chestnut to mahogany brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is sweet malts, jammy berries, vinous, mellow barrel, red grape, caramel. Taste comprises fruit cake, oak, toffee, light spice, red wine barrel, plummy, dried fruits, red berry jam. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, light alcohol trail at the curtain call. Solid stuff ... well balanced and carries the boost off well ... deserving of a top 50 style spot.

Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, woody roast, jammy fruits, belgian yeast, oak tannin and a litte grape. Palate is medium sweet, highish carbonation, wood tannin.

Another beer I tried at the 3rd Cotteridge Tasting on 20th May 2017. Cheers Colin (Theydon what’s it) for this bottle. How the hell has this got into the top 50 Abt/Quad list? Murky brown/amber body, beige topping. Way too sweet, even for my sweet tooth, jammy (red fruits) nose and taste. Could not get past the sweetness to find any aging or barreling notes.

Bottle at Cotteridge Convention 2017. It pours cloudy deep red - brown with medium light tan head. The aroma is soft, sweet, juicy, tangy fruit, vinous, vanilla, oak, fruit compote and toasted brioche. The taste is sweet, juicy, jammy, bread, toffee/caramel, grape, fruit compote, Victoria sponge, wood, leather and tannin with some spice on the finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Enjoyable wine character to it. Fun stuff.
