12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 9/5/19. Canned on 8/12/19. Slightly hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of floral, leafy hops, some lemon and tea, caramel malt. Taste is tropical fruit, lemon, tea leaves, caramel, some umamiish tangerine, like maybe mikan or something. Medium bodied, low carb, low to moderate bitterness. Solid.

12 oz can purchased in Austin, TX. 5.8% ABV. Pours an opaque black color with ruby highlights and a light tan head with very good retention. Spots of lacing. Dark chocolate aroma. Charred malt flavor and not much else. Lightly sweet, not bitter. More of a dark lager or Schwarzbier profile. Clean and smooth. Medium body and a short finish. Very easy drinking.

A golden ipa with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with resinous floral hops, nice and smooth. In mouth, caramel malt with herbaceous hops, light off notes, faint butterscotch, not very good. On tap at The Q, Terminal E, IAH.

I've had this 22 oz bottle of Barrel Crusher since early spring last year. It needs to be consumed. Lift the top and pour into a glass stein. I see a nice delivery, sort of a cinnamon gold in color with a prominent eggshell white head. The sniff test gives up hops and booze, a step in the right direction. The taste ultimately, oh my, pretty doggone good. I find a light hoppiness, honey, meadow, wheat bread and a bit of toffee. Not seeing the 100 IBUs but whatever. Definitely detect the barrel influence. Easily drinkable what with the 13% abv and all. Reminiscent of Founders DankWood.

Stashed away for close to a year, it is time to sample Darkest Hour. I obtained this bomber at The Cellar in Odessa, TX, our regional craft beer store. A little Bryan Ferry playing behind me, with the brew going into my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass the bottle delivers a liquid darker than a revenue agent's attitude finished by a light skim of dark tan foam. The nose is quite fine, chocolate, hay, tobacco, all the basics of life. I take a taste, all right, rather unique. I get semi-sweet chocolate, malt, raspberry, some smokiness and something contributed from the barrel. Wine? Maybe so. And a nicely ending bitterness. Not the best imperial stout I have had but certainly interesting.

Bottle shared at Cotteridge Convention 2017 - cheers all! Pours cloudy amber with a frothy, tan head. The nose suggests moderate oxidation, toasted bread, aged fruits, dates. Medium sweet flavour with notes of fruitcake, light alcohol, cherry, earthy hops, toffee. Full bodied, chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Light warmth to the finish, some dried fruits, more earth, fruitcake. Good depth. Solid overall.
