Can from 7-11. Spicy, citrus hops in the nose, honey malts. Sweet and malty flavor, honey, citrus, decent balance. Simple but tasty. Crisp and fresh. Better than expected.

Can. Bright hoppy nose, white grape, lemon, biscuity malt, light stone fruits. Slightly sweet honey malt flavor, white grapes and citrus. Full yet crisp body. Herbal, bitter hop finish. Good one.

27/10/2024. Bottle bought at Family Mart, Hakata Station. On our last evening in Japan what better way to spend it than in the company of this monster of a beer. I’ve been in lots of convenience stores over the last week and not seen it until today so had to buy it. It’s surely a rarity? Label suggest various ways to dilute this concentrated beer with carbonated water, pepsi, lemon but as we have none of that in our apartment let’s go neat. Pours clear bronze brown with a small frothy grey beige head. Aroma is boozy, malted, golden syrup, toffee, biscuit, butterscotch, brown bread. Quite sweet with a moderately harsh bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, average carbonation. Lip numbing alcohol heat to finish. This is like a rough barley wine. Far from perfect but more drinkable than previous ratings have suggested, perhaps straight up neat is the way forward for this.

23/10/2024. Can bought at 7-Eleven, Otemachi. The can says zero on it rather than 70% but it’s the same 4.0% abv and it’s as per the earlier reviews so didn’t seem worthy of a new addition to RateBeer. Pours bright golden amber with a short lasting white head. Aroma is skunky, malty, metallic, cardboard, bready, sugar syrup, odd musty fruits. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Light bodied, very watery, average carbonation. A very cheap beer but pretty nasty too.
