Bottle from the brewery. Light golden color; average for the style. Fruity, slightly sweet, slightly hoppy aroma. Taste is right on—fruit, light malt, some honey, decent hops, too! A well-made Koelsch on the hoppy, full-flavored side.

Draught at the brewpub. Medium to dark amber with an off-white, frothy, fine head. Aroma of amber malts (Vienna), cherry and other fruits, caramel. Quite fruity with a touch of citrus. Pale amber malt flavor, with a bit of caramel and lots of wachy fruitys. Cherry, Muscat, fresh plum. Doesn’t really work well. A fruity, un-bitter, alt, basically. A bit cloying and slightly insipid.

Draught at 2012 GJBF Osaka. Nice german grassy hop nose. Quite fizzy, nicely hopped. Crisp and good. Northern style. Better than before, I think. Draught at the brewpub, 2009: 6/3/6/3/13. Medium gold color. Malty, cereal aroma; quite rich. Ok light hopping. Reasonably malty flavor, well balanced, with a touch of aroma hop and an ok bitter finish. Not really interesting, but decent.

Draught at the brewery. Pitch black with a rocky tan head. Malty, roasted aroma with chocolate and caramel. Very well roasted, burnt flavor! Rich malt, with lots of chocolate. Well done! Rich and smooth.

Draught at the brewpub. Light amber color with a tall rocky head. Interesting looking. Very fruity, sweet aroma, with lots of cherry. Light body and flavor. Sweet and very fruity; slightly candy-like. Not bad—a bit too sweet, a little artificial, but interesting.

Draught at the brewpub. Great rocky head and a rich, amber color. Caramel aroma with some bitter hops. Rather rich and one-dimensional. Fruity, caramel flavor with nice dryness, especially at the finish. Slight flavors of cherry and dark fruits; intensely bitter finish. Full-flavored.

Draft at GJBF 2009, Osaka. A Special version that had been aged for 6 years at the brewery. Very smokey caramel-molasses aroma. Very nice. Orange-brown color; looks decent. Nice frothy, head. A lovely smoky flavor, woody, fabulous. The aging comes through very well. Smooth as silk.

Very dark amber color, that with a bit of red tinge could look more like a Belgian Red. Pours a decent head. Cotton candy in the nose, but the sweetness of the cornstrach really dominates as well. I am not looking forward to the first sip. Not bad some crystal malt flavors hitting the back of the tounge. Very carbonated. Caramel, buscuit, but also sweet corn flavors. Mouth is very malt and the finish is relatively smooth, malty and dry with a lingering sweet mouth feel. Interestingly enough the ingedients in order are malt, rice (locally grown near the brewery), cornstarch and hops. For a beer with such crappy ingredients this does alright.
