Reddish brown, lasting tan head.Sweet carmel malt nose.Somewhat tinny spicy malt flavor, sweet finish. Certainly a dissappointment, possibly too old?. Faint clove presence

Bottle. Dark brown with tinge of red, thickish tan head. Nice dark beer with slightly sweet fruit but nice hop finish. Smooth in mouth. Does everything you would expect, but doesn’t have any distinctive character

Bottled 33cl (BB 11/2006)
Golden, a bit hazy color, cloudy white head. Soapy, lemony nose. Basicly good lemony, fruity, acidy, hoppy, yeasty, what ever good triple needs to be, but metallic tinge is annoying. I wonder how big a bit aged bottle would be.

Bottle poures a slightly hazy medium redish brown. Nice hefty light brown head and moderate lacing. Fruit, apples, raisons in the aroma and a moderatly smooth body. That belgian spice was quite subdues and the slight baryard mustiness was also very diminished. The alcohol was noticeable a bit more than I like. Not bad.

(Bottle 25 cl) Opaque, dark brown - close to black actually. An incredibly tall, creamy head. Extremely complex, I sense both dates, coffee and rum (!). Yeast and candi sugars is very evident, but it’s perfectly in balance and never gets cloying. The alcohol is perfectly hidden. A wonderful ale indeed. 140100

(on tap at Léon de Belge in Essen/Ruhr) Dark amber colour with a small tanned head. Sweet malty aroma with lots of dried fruits, yeasts and coriander spice. Initially sweetmalty taste with an almost refreshing slightly sour fruitiness turning into a spicy (pepper, coriander) and sweetbitter finish with hints of grilled red paprika. Medium body, the alcohol is well integrated. A very tasty Dubble !

Tap. Malty raisin aroma. Dark brown with small head. Sweet raisin and plum flavor - mild alcohol finish. Nice smooth and tasty brew.

(Bottle 25 cl) Actually this isn’t that different from the dark "Pater"-version. The characteristics are pretty similar, only the malts are lighter (and the brewery is different....). Again, more dry than really bitter. But quenching. 020893

(Bottle 25 cl) Hazy brown, almost muddy appearance. Lots of aroma from the malts, extremely aromatic and pleasant. A bit on the dry side for a "Dubbel" making this easier to drink than some of it’s brothers. Has been marketed extensively in recent years, but seems to have maintained all it’s qualities. 020893

I have had this beer a number of times over the years but somehow had neglected to rate it. Sampled from a 12 oz bottle this beer poured a hazy pale yellow color with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet pineapple. the flavor is sweet apple and pineapple with a yeasty tang. There is a hint of spice on the finish.
