Description

Bottle. Sweet apple-lemon malt aroma with light hops. Orange-yellow color with large lacy head. Smooth sweet lemon and light apple flavor with light hops and alcohol finish. A great tripel that I could drink anytime - extremely smooth and well balanced.

Bottle: Dark amber coloured, thin, firm beige head, lacing; sweet-malty nose, traces of liquorice and coriander(?); sweetish, fruity start, drying out a bit and becoming slightly tart; sweet and a bit bitter flavour; short, malty finish with a distinct bitterness. O.K.

Bottled. 75cl champagne-style. Red/amber in color. Dense, light tan head. Nice lacings. Aroma of christmas spices, sugar and cellar. Much the same in flavor. Long fruity bitter finish. (051126)

750 ml corked "champagne" style bottle, packed in metal gift box. Now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). Very dark reddish brown colour, slightly hazy. Moderate tan head. Very nice aroma of Christmas spices, oak, raisins, old sherry, toffee and treacle. Flavour is very malty sweet, plenty of caramel and some spices, hints of smoke, tart/bitter finish. Fizzy mouthfeel - due to the aggressive carbonation and tart finish this beer was not a "silky smooth" experience for me. I actually preferred du Bocq’s Regal Christmas to this one (haven’t tried them side by side, though). R.C. is also somewhat less expensive.

Dark burgundy color, with huge, foamy head that dissipates quickly - aroma of brown sugar, spice and gingerbread (quite christmas-like) - tastes like a very yeasty version of anchor OSA, with less spice/nutmeg presence - slightly tart toward the end, cutting some of the sticky, cookie-like malt flavors - there are many better chirstmas beers.

Hazy blonde ale with a creamy lacing white head. Wonderful resinous hops aroma with rosewater notes and some sweet candy sugar. In mouth, a nice sweet malt base with good hops in retro-olfaction, coriander and again the rosewater, like lebanese pastries. God that’s good. Bought 1 year ago at LCBO.

A very pleasant and flawless beer. It is a dark, cloudy yellow. Heavily carbonated with an enormous and long lasting white head that never quite goes away. Light flowery aroma. It does have a lightness like the description says. There are light fruit flavors with citrus and sweet malt. It doesn’t really being dry, but it does finish that way.
