750 mlbottle, swing top batch number 4002 bottle # 37 @ Willrunforbeer grand mead tasting. Hazy gold with a mostly honey aroma can’t pick up any type of vanilla.
The vanilla is in the flavor and integrated rather nicely. Dry texture with some lingering vanilla after the sip. Very drying texture, ok

Bottle. Inky merlot body. Legs. Huge jammy aromas blueberry, boysenberry, raspberry, vanilla, white chocolate. Damn sweet but great tannin and acid balance. Huge raspberry, vanilla and chocolate. Syrupy with some heat and good structure. Well made and deliciously in your face.

Totally confused here. I am rating a bottle of Aphrodisia that was bottled in 2012, batch 600 (or 6001, but i think that is a slash). No mention of the type of wine used anywhere on the bottle, so I am assuming it is the oldest one on RB. There also seems to be a bifurcation of styles going on here - some folks are rating this as golden yellow, others as pale zinfandel. Hmmm... Mine was on the pale zin side of the house. No head, no carbonation, no lacing. Aroma is quite wine like, lots of grape skin notes along with some honey. Flavor is sweet, of course, but not overly, with a lot of tannic bite from the grapes as well. Interesting.

Bottle share courtesy of Dak, thanks! It pours with a deep ruby red body. The aroma offers up smooth slightly waxy honey sweetness rolling into firm dry smelling red wine notes and some booze. The taste pulses with nectar sweet ripe grape and beery fruitiness followed by firm dry rich red wine notes. Wow! The play between the honey sweetened fruity notes and the deep red wine dryness works very well here. The richness just gets deeper with each sip. Oh yeah!

Bottle share courtesy of Dak, thanks! It pours with a deep ruby red body. The aroma is rich with nectar like berry notes flowing into dry smelling smooth rich red wine. Interesting. The taste is rich with nectar like sweet berry goodness heading quickly into dry red wine notes and some modest residual sweetness. Wow! This has great balance and richness. I can sip on this all night long.

Bottle share courtesy of Dak, thanks! It pours with a clear deep purple inspired body that has some nice legginess. The aroma offers up sweet rich honey sweetness, a sliver of honey waxiness and then red wine and earthy dark fruitiness. Cool. The taste has smooth rich honey blended with nectar sweet berry to grape notes and smooth dry rich red wine. To midway it gets into a dash of chocolate nuanced with grape sort of berry and currant like rich nectar fruity sweetness that is tempered by some muted tannin like dryness. Nice.

Bottle share courtesy of Dak, thanks! It pours with deep clear rosy red to purple body. The aroma offers up earthy sweet red grapes, nectar like red wine reduction and a bit of waxy sweet honey in the background. The taste starts with rich nectar like berry and sweet red grape like goodness and then quickly rolling into earthy red wine that only has a mild dryness to it to about midway. It dries out more into the finish. This is a pleasing experience as I enjoy the rich deep somewhat dry red wine notes blending and diving into the sweetness. Yes.

Bottle share courtesy of Dak, thanks! It pours with a rug staining deep dark rosy red to purple body that leaves behind thick glass staining legginess. The aroma hits with both slick sugary honey goodness and nectar like berry notes where there is a modest degree of sweet smooth sugary smelling vanilla off in the background. This smells great. The taste has a wonderful play between rich nectar like fresh sweet berry juice thickened by honey and then flowing into a smooth modest sweet kind of white chocolate seemingly vanilla note. This is well crafted and delivers a wonderful rich mix of honey, berry notes and vanilla. Love this, wow! This is right up there with some of the best I’ve been lucky enough to try. I had a splash of Schramm’s Statement to I can compare and to my surprise this was a little deeper richer and somehow embraced the fruit more. This is not Heart of Darkness good, but dang.
