Description

Mons, rijk aan traditie en uitstraling! Toch ontbrak er de afgelopen jaren nog één iets: een eigen stadsbier. Eigenlijk vreemd, en zelfs onbegrijpelijk, dat zo'n aangename en leuke stad als Mons nog geen eigen bier kende. Benoit Garnier, Massimo Falasca en Laurent Wuillot, de uitbaters van twee gekende Bergense brasserieën (Le Quartier Latin en de Taverne 44) waren dezelfde mening toegedaan. Daarom besloten de drie vrienden in 2012 om hier iets aan te doen. Ruim twee jaar lang namen ze de tijd om de Belgische brouwerswereld te leren kennen en om het hele land af te schuimen op zoek naar interessante plekken en personen. Uiteindelijk bleek hun ontmoeting met Bruno Deghorain, meesterbrouwer bij brouwerij La Binchoise, allesbepalend te zijn. Na de ontmoeting besloten ze een samenwerking op te starten.

Hazy golden colour. Medium carbonation. Fruity nose, banana, estery. Taste is sweet: honey, peach, a bit citrussy. Well balanced and nice tripel

As Trinité Triple at 8.5 % ABV. Appearance: Cloudy gold with a tall off-white frothy head of high retention. Aroma: Solid pale malt, esters, fruity yeast, slight funk, distant medicine. Taste: Light sweet, dry ending. Malt, overripe fruits, slight funk, apple seeds, grass. light ending bitterness. Mouth feel: Medium body, average to lively carbonation. Summary: An interesting one. Not my favourite one I'm afraid.

Bottled as La Montoise Blonde at 5.8% ABV. Gushing opening. Cloudy yellow with a tall off-white frothy head of good retention. Aroma: Pale malt, spicy Belgian yeast, dried apples, grass. Taste: Pretty dry. Similar profile. Light ending hop bitterness. Mouth feel: Medium minus body, undercarbonated due to the gushing. Summary: OK.

Bottle at home. Clear golden color, medium sized white to off-white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, lightly herbal notes, sweetish a bit. Can't get more tbh. Meh.

Bottle at home. A bit unclear orange color, medium to full sized white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetish a bit, maybe some honey. Don't get much more. Not bad.

33cl bottle from Carrefour Market Cours St. Michel in Brussels. F: medium, white, average retention. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, bready, banana, pear, spicy, honey. T: medium to full malty base, banana, bready, bit honey, coriander, orange peels, hay, medium carbonation, dough, dry on the palate, nothing really special here, partially enjoyed.

33cl bottle from Delhaize Chazal in Brussels. F: big, white, good retention. C: gold, hazy with a lot of tiny UFO ´s. A: malty, bit citrus, mineral, spicy touch. T: medium malty base, light citrus, floral, coriander, banana, medium carbonation, taste is better than aroma, good for the style, enjoyed.

08/06/2019 @home - 33cl bottle from a trade with jerre. Clear straw yellow, huge rocky white head. Nose is malts, honey. Taste is sweet malts, honey, soft. floral. Decent.

Donkergeel bier met schuim. Gedronken @ hotel te Mons/Bergen. Smaak is bitter hoppig, licht zoet en kruidig met iets van honing, koriander en een licht citrusje. Echt goed.

30/05/2018 - 33cl bottle @ L'Exelsior, Mons Clear almost amber colour, big white head. Nose is malts , bit spices. bit caramel. Taste is malts (even bit dark malts touch), caramel, bit spices.
