Description
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Test vom 14.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,9,9,8,13,9 - 9,15

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear magogany/ruby colour, firm head. Dusty fruity nose. Medium sweet, fairly soft and caramelly with solid malt backbone. Some light lingonberries, otherwise restrained flavourwise. Low bitterness. Promising, but doesn’t bloom.

(screw cap bottle) Clear, deep amber colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Sweet, toast-malty and bready aroma with caramel. Sweet flavour, light to medium body impression with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Pretty slim, sweet-bitter, malt-accented finish with notes of alcohol and caramel in the aftertaste. Rather mediocre but drinkable Märzen.
