Description
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Screw-cap bottle: Clear, amber coloured, mid-sized and slowly collapsing off-white head, moderate sweet-malty nose with a tinge of toasted malt and some hoppy edges; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; fruity traces in the toasted malty and moderately bitter finish. Not a bad one........

Langweiliger Nachgeschmack, etwas malzig, hopfig, leicht getreidig. Test vom 7.8.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,8,9,8,13,8 - 8,80

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so sit the flavor, leading to a dry finish with notes of straw.

Bottle. A bit too pale golden pour, I think, with a dense white head. Quite weak nose, with grass, pale malt and some hops. Bitter, fruity, slightly grassy flavor. Medium body. Grassy and hoppy finish. Both boring and quaffable, but definately not foul. (070528)
