From tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem. Banana yeast with notes of clove and saffron. Bit fruity too, touch of apricot, wheat, spicy notes. Moderate sweet taste, a hint of alcohol from the Tripel side of the coin. Works well.

Keg at If It Ain't Dutch, 19/02/2025.
Moderately hazed orange to reddish amber with a light off white cap.
Nose is cherry stones, herb, straw, grass.
Taste comprises hedgerow, cherry skins, red berry tang, straw, herb.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a modest puckering kiss.
Decent enough refresher.

Draught at restaurant. Hazy unclear pale yellow color, full sized white head. Aroma bears quite some resemblance to Orval. Flavor are malts, bitter hops, malt bitter, light to moderate metallic notes. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Not bad but probably too bitter for most casual drinkers.

Bottiglia.

Pours a hazy dark orange. Aroma consist mostly of smoke and some wheats, with an aftertaste reminiscent of smoked bacon. Unfortunately I found this one ruined by too much malty sweetness.

Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of bitter oranges, some grains, grape peel, hops. Bitter, hoppy aftertaste. Nothing special but a nice Jopen regardless.

Pours a hazy medium amber with a white head. Bit too watery for my taste. I may give it another try in summer.

Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate. This is a fine enjoyable stout. However, it’s a bit lacking in body, a bit too weak to be a truly good brew. It should pack more of a punch.

Pours a dark brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, toffee, dark fruit, chocolate, and plenty of hops. Very tasty, one of the better Jopen beers I’ve had.

2011 version. Pours a hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, dark fruit. Slighly smokey. This is quite a nice bock, I very much enjoyed it. 2012 version drank 29/11/2013. Decidedly less tasty than the 2011 version, will try this one again in a year. 2014 version, 03/10/2014. Not a big fan of this bock, it’s quite sweet. Gets much better as it ages.
