On draught at House of Brews in NYC. Pours golden yellow with a thin ivory head that has decent retention. Minimal lacing. Weak aroma of fruit and hops. Light-bodied and effervescent with a grassy hops flavor, as well as hints of fruit and malt. The finish is short and citrusy. Not very high on the Kölsch scale, but a decent beer in its own rite.

Draft at "Broadway Brewing Co.," JFK terminal 8. Rated 6/7/04, ratings retrieved from broken handheld. Not quite as complex as their description implies. There’s a big roast coffee aroma rising from a toffee colored head, and a very appropriately black body. Taste is of coffee and black patent malts, with a bit of stoutie driness. I’m missing the alcohol warmth this style usually conjures up. Bitterness seems to come more from the malts than from any hop profile.

Draft at "Broadway Brewing Co.," JFK terminal 8. Rated 6/7/04, ratings retrieved from broken handheld. A nice little brew to find at the airport. Pours a thin head over an iced-tea colored body. Nice caramel malt combined with fresh hops in the nose. Balance is indeed at work here. A happy little session beer that ends with a big hop finish.

Yup, that looks like a stout alright - a bit thin-bodied and flavored - kind of chalky mouthfeel - mild chocolate - pretty dry, slightly bitter.

Hey, CapFlu, I’ve got your pint to hoard! It was dark amber, with a slight haze. The aroma was somewhat light for the style but nevertheless showed strawberry, lime, and orange. The flavour was crisp and woody, later getting grapefruity with brown sugar notes. There is an underlying toffeeish sweetness. I found it well-balanced if unspectacular. I only had three of their beers - the most interesting styles - and they were all well-done.

On tap at the brewery. Very dark brown colour, with a pock-marked head. Toasty notes amid chocolate malt and woody hopping punctuate the aroma. There’s actually quite a bit more hop to this than one would expect for the style. Long, woody, bitter finish loaded with dark chocolate. Not to style, but a nice stout, served with a partial nitro mix.

Very dark brown. Aroma is roasty, coffeeish. Palate is oaty, roasty, quite nutty. Body is a little thin, leaving a harsh roasty bitterness in the finish.

Cloudy golden appearance with not much of a head - wheat and hops in the aroma - this doesn't taste much like a wheat beer at all - it tastes more like an american pale ale with a bit more malt presence - hops mixed with a touch of maple syrup would probably describe it best - the tongue has to work hard to find the "wheat" in this beer, which I guess doesn't have to be a bad thing - I don't think this is an awful beer, but it def. needs work.
