Froma bottle, quite aromatic. Big abnd dark. I had high hopes for this becasue the label said black lager. Is everything imperial these days? Big strong in yer face alky, not sure how this is a lager. By taste? NEVER. Think imerial stout or imperial porter on this, perhaps even foreign stout, yes, the last time I tasted something like this it was lion stout. wew. strong. Session is kick you in the teeth. Finish is kick you in the head.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium creamy off-white head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is simcoe-y; grapefruit, cat piss, a bit tropical passionfruity. Flavor is about the same, light sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, oily palate coating mouthfeel. Nice stuff.

Sample at The Pint Room. Pours a clear dark orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, caramel malt and grain. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle. Pours clear amber, very small off white head, decent lacing. Aroma is citrus, quite strong butterscotch, caramel. Flavor is the same, light sweet, light bitter, very buttery, which was pretty darned surprising to me Medium body, watery. I can only assume this has been on the shelf fohr a while, but I can’t find a date on it anywhere to confirm. Tap at the source. Faint aroma of citra, similar flavor. Much better than previous, but not outstanding. A bit harsh.

Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 5th Annual Real Ale Fest (03/23/13): Brownish-black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of peppers, chocolate and malt. Medium to full body with a spicy pepper character and notes of chocolate malt and coffee. The finish is spicy with a raw pepper aftertaste. A little too much on the pepper side for me, decent overall.

Bottle courtesy of weihenweizen. Lemon-orange, wheat malt, and coriander aroma. Cloudy pale yellow with a large white head. Floral lemon, wheat malt, and spicy flavor. Light body, lively carbonation. Slightly different take on a wit, which I found to be dangerously drinkable stuff. Very nice

Bottle @ Steve’s Foco, courtesy of Veldrid. Thanks Jeff! Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a nice brown head. Toasty, thick dark chocolate, light brownie syrup, light vanilla, slightly burnt aroma. Light coffee, a touch herbal, lightly floral, lightly fruity, easy drinking thick dark chocolate flavor. Tasty brew.
