500ml bottle from Asda, Chelmsley Wood. Pours dark brown/near black with beige to tanned head. Aroma of roasted and sweet malt, brown bread, bird seed. Taste of roasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee and hint of liquorice, touch of cola. Nice smoothness to this for the strength. Good. Wychwood have brought out a new Hobgoblin stout also but its not as good as this. Greene King wins the imaginary battle.

500ml clear bottle from Asda. Pours a clear amber with good off white head. Aroma is malty with notes of biscuit, nuts, straw, hint of caramel. Taste follows aroma although maybe slightly earthier than expected in the malt with a leafy hop bitterness coming through and light berry fruit hints. Medium bodied, fairly dry but offset with a sweetness mid-palate. Better than I was expecting as I rated the non-gluten free version a 3.0 back in 2020.
