Description
At Hop City, we create beer that inspires the curious, and fuels the restless.

We embrace the journey as much as you do. We take risks, make wrong turns, and just go for it.

For us, it’s about believing in curiosity. Because even though it may have killed the cat, before he died, that cat probably had a pretty good time.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Clear, amber to copper colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Buttery and slightly bready malty aroma with notes of caramel, a nutty touch and woody hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Nutty and mildly bready toast-malty taste with notes of caramel, as well as hints of spicy, woody hops; moderately dry bitter-sweet caramelly and mildly spicy hoppy finish. Likeable Lager. 13.VII.14

Had this draft beer during the 7/4 beer tour 2014 at Sidelines Beer House. A yuengling looking beer, looks like lighter iced tea. Smells a little like the mild b/o of your favorite mate, you know, in a good way. First taste is not real hoppy initially but then the bitterness morphs into something more potent. Yes, this evolution is this same with every gulp. Some co2 makes it somewhat usable for a lager lover. This is your typical mouth coating IPA, wew. Terribly on style once you get to the finish. No fruity attributes in this IPA.

Second release from this brewer, but fifth one to try from them, as just released in cans. Pours a mild hazy light-golden colour with a white froth head, average retention and hardly any lace. Belgian Ale yeast aromas with the spiciness of clove and the notes of bananas from the wheat. Also, hints of alcohol and grainy corn malt. The taste is quite milder with a little spicy banana cereals. Seems a little off on this one. Just needs to be balanced a little better.

This lager poured a deep amber colour with a quick living head. Scents of smoke, malt and caramel. First swig was nice but a little thin in the mouthfeel dept. Malty, smokey flavours most prodominant. Finish is smokey but very good. Thicker would be better... That sounds terrible!

Bottle at West Coast Brew Fest 2014. Pours copper with a beige head. Roast malt with citrus for aroma. Med body. Flavor is like aroma. Finishes towards dry and bitter, but doesn’t quite get there.

Bottle. Pours a clear coppery gold with a large fizzy head and aromas of herbal and somewhat slinky hops. As it warms the aromas become more floral and slightly soapy with a slight tropical edge, but the initial hit was skunk. First sip is much better than I had feared and things are going to be ok... no they are gonna be good. There is a decent amount of grain dust maltiness there, but it is almost completely covered by tropical and resiny hops. Mango, passion fruit and pine almost bury it, but then that edgy malt comes back in the late palate before yielding to a somewhat clunky bitterness that doesn’t have much direction. Ok beer, and I would have another, but not something I would seek out.

12oz bottle pours a murky burnt, Texas orange with some frothy white head. Nose has a lot of citrus peel, some clear malt, a little bread crumb, some honey, a little corn, orange, lemon. Flavor has a strong citrus peel bitterness, some cardboard but not bad, some weak pine, soggy bread, stale cracker. Clean finish. More of an English take on a pale ale, and not superb, but not offensive either.
