12oz bottle pours a murky burnt, Texas orange with some frothy white head. Nose has a lot of citrus peel, some clear malt, a little bread crumb, some honey, a little corn, orange, lemon. Flavor has a strong citrus peel bitterness, some cardboard but not bad, some weak pine, soggy bread, stale cracker. Clean finish. More of an English take on a pale ale, and not superb, but not offensive either.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy off white head that left no lacing. The aroma was green onion and vague grassy hops. The flavor was tart and tangy onion, grass and lemon. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pretty awful.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-toffee color with a small foamy orange-tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and citric with an underlying sweet and tart presence. The flavor was tart, tangy and chalky with a lemony note. Medium length finish. Light to medium body. Meh.

341 ml bottle. Pours a clear rusty orange colour with a small short lasting white head. Malty aroma. Slightly bitter. Mild caramel flavor with a dry finish.

I’m familiar with the seven deadly sins (intimately, wink, wink) but the 8th is a new one on me. What is it? Booziness? Horribly pouring a beer? (There was this time in Singapore...) At any rate Hop City’s version of it pours a dark coke colour with a tan foamy head that fluffed it way up only about a finger. Smells of coffee, roasted malts, and little chocolate in there too. The smell alone got my gluttony and greed a-goin’. The taste however didn’t follow through, mostly malts, with some breads, cereal and a lot less roast than I was expected. There is a metallic hint too, but overall it’s rather light on flavour. (Easy drinking is what the marcobrewers sinfully call it.) Is the 8th disappointment? The Pope might not say so, but for me it just might be. It’s an okay beer, drinkable, but not great.

Pours with a nice amber, towards golden, color, topped with a decent slightly off-white head with decent retention. There is a very nice malty aroma complemented by some nice caramel and biscuity smell. The taste is pleasantly sweet at first, slightly roasted in the body, together with some caramel feel. Finishes with a nice bitterness. Easily drinkable, smooth and very enjoyable.

A reddish copper brown lager with a thick receding lacing mocha head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate malt with coffee grind, roasty and nice. In mouth, a nice roasted chocolate malt with light grassy hops, a bit thin but overall nice. On tap at loose moose.

The appearance was a somewhat clear amber/red colored body, one finger white foamy head that dies within about a minute and leaves some super light cling lacing.
The smell had a nutty caramel malts in front and not much else.
The taste was mainly sweet through the malts, slightly nutty aftertaste, quick dry finish.
On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body, somewhat sessionable and the carbonation is smooth and ends up rolling nicely around the tongue and mouth.
Overall, its nothing spectacular, but nothing bad, worthy of coming back and probably even better with food.

bottle - Light amber pour, one finger head... there’s a mild caramel malt aroma and a sweet, bready, caramel malt flavor. It’s medium bodied with mild hops bitterness. It’s straightforward and average at best.
