Description
In the years 1891 and 1892, the Gütermann family built a brewery in Saalfeld that was modern from the perspective of the time. During the last days of the war the brewery was completely destroyed. But the brewery was quickly rebuild; from 1948 to 1991 the brewery was state-owned. At the time of the reunification of Germany in 1989, the brewery was in a technically completely outdated condition. In 1991 the brewery became a private company. After large investments the Bürgerliche Brauhaus Saalfeld became a modern brewery. A share of 23% is owned by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a thick and slowly lacing foamy white head. Moderately sweet and slightly perfumed strawy malty nose with herbal and slightly grassy hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Pale malty and minimal grainy taste with light notes of sour dough; quite sweet and moderately bitter hoppy and grassy finish. Just a tad too sweet for my liking -27.VIII.09-.

Hazy light blond color. It has a poor aroma of paper, poor flavor, with a strong bitterness. Very boring.
