Description
In the years 1891 and 1892, the Gütermann family built a brewery in Saalfeld that was modern from the perspective of the time. During the last days of the war the brewery was completely destroyed. But the brewery was quickly rebuild; from 1948 to 1991 the brewery was state-owned. At the time of the reunification of Germany in 1989, the brewery was in a technically completely outdated condition. In 1991 the brewery became a private company. After large investments the Bürgerliche Brauhaus Saalfeld became a modern brewery. A share of 23% is owned by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG.

Bottle looks very simple. Beer in the glass not too zippy, nice head. Starts strong, fine spicy, dry, some alcoholic hints. A bit metallically. Finish dry, spicy, but well balanced. Okay!

330ml bottle. Clear dark reddish brown with small white head that reduces to a thin layer. Intense sweet dark malty aroma, caramelly, nuttily and slightly alcoholic. Sweet dark malty taste, warming alcoholic finish. Could be perfectly used as prototype Doppelbock to derive variations from.

Bright orange colour, small head. Aroma has sweet honey. Flavour is weird and rather unusual for a märzen: it is sweet, harsh and feels like a bock.
