Cask at the Castle - Manchester. Pours deep brown with a dense, creamy beige head. Hearty coffee aroma, with sturdy roast, cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with nice and true bitter coffee character, bittersweet baking cocoa, some scorched earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Nicely balanced on the finish, but still with assertive coffee character, mellow earth, burnt toast, chocolate. Great coffee stout, and the depth of character is quite impressive given the relatively low ABV.

Gravity cask at the brewpub, Norwich. Light to mid-gold, clear with some spotty white head. White grape and gardenia in the aroma with an intensely astringent note. Tastes bitter with a suggestion of orchard fruit and lots and lots of sulphur. I donโt usually like sulphurous beers but this is OK. Approaching a Victirian-era pale ale a la White Shield, without the complexity. Still, good enough.

Cask at the Fat Cat brewery tap. Pours clear yellow-gold with a frothy white head. The aroma holds marmalade, grainy pale malts, rindy lemon, hay. Light to medium sweet flavor with doughy white bread, some tangerine, husky grains. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with pale, grainy malts, some rindy bitterness, dirty hay. An OK gold overall.

Gravity cask at Fat Cat - Norwich. Pours somewhat clear brown with a foamy beige head. Toasty brown bread on the nose with accents of cocoa and earth. Light-medium sweet flavor with further toasty brown bread, milk chocolate, dried berries, bitter earth, leather. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced on the finish with more chocolatey dark malts, cocoa, mild roast, earth, leathery berries. A tasty and very drinkable porter.

Cask at the Wellington Birmingham. Poured a clear straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is light resin citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big wood, resin hop bitter, light pepper spice palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at the Harop. Deep gold, orange tint. Clean, herbal. Orange se. Whet biscuits. Light, lemon and orange, flowery, light sweetness. Nice.
