This stout poured a dark amber colour with a tan coloured head. Scents include coffee, caramel and a little smoke. Doesn’t look like your average stout. Minimal lacing. First swig was quite sweet with flavours of caramel, dark roast coffee and toast. Finish is a little bitter with smoky malt flavours lingering.

Cloudy golden-orange colour with a frothy warm cap, decent retention and some light foamy lacing. Malty nose with some light fruitiness. Maybe oranges, but not bananas. Light banana notes in the taste with even milder cloves. Some decent light bitterness in the finish. Yeast lingers. Not enough bubble gum and bananas and too malty (not wheaty enough) to be a good Hefe. Still decent though, but not my thing for the style.

Bottled (2005 vintage), thanks Sylvain! Cardboardy caramel aroma. Sweet and sour with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Sourish and caramelly. Overly oxidized with black pepper, meat and lemon. Hasn’t survived.
