12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy dark orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, herbal, floral, grass, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid IPA. Good complexity and robustness of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bomber from the Woodland, CA CostCo. Pours translucent gold with a large creamy white head. Clean aromas of grass/zest/ginger. Med body. Flavor is zest, ginger, grass, maybe anise. Or not. Just a hint of earthiness. After awhile there seems to be some fruity esters. This is a strongly flavored ale, but it’s a sum of flavors rather than any particular one. Focusing on one aspect, like earth, makes it seem light in flavor. As is, the ginger gives it a light refreshing aspect. It’s a good drink, but not over the top in flavor impact. The brewers may have nailed their goal.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours an opaque black with a tiny brown head. Lovely sweet, roasty nose, mushy dark dried fruit. Rich body, heavy roast, again dark dried fruit and a dryish, slightly bitter finish. Really a text book Imperial Stout - lovely. 090914

Draft in a standard pint glass. Huge off white head that left sheets of lacing on a black liquid. Aroma is pine and mild citrus hops with chocolate malt. The flavor is much the same with a good chocolate malt to pine hop balance. The bitterness is a little length with pine being more dominant than the citrus. The body is pretty thin. If the body was beefed up it would rate higher. I guess it is lighter for the summer months. Still would like more body.
