Bottle from a branch of Total Wine in Sterling, Virginia. Deep brown in colour, with moderate carbonation and rocky, off-white, head. An easy-drinking brown ale, with some brown sugar, bready malts, a hint of leafy hop and gentle finish. Fine.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured an orange-brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered. The aroma was sweetish and malty with a touch of toffee. The flavor was sweet and malty with caramel, molasses, a bit of dark fruit, wood, bread dough and a hint of smoke. Medium length finish. Medium body.

On tap at Legend, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subdued bourbon, with toasted malt. Flavour is obscured, with faint bourbon and light toasted malt. Pretty weak and lacking structure. Uninteresting.

On tap at Legend, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bitter piney hop, biscuity malt and a hint of diacetyl. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of piney hops and crisp biscuity malt. Bitter, unbalanced and lacking depth. This is weak.

On tap at Legend, pours a hazy amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out tart raspberries with a touch of Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out a wheaty base, with light raspberries and a touch of saison yeast. Not a whole lot of depth, but it works alright.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Apparently not the old ESB. Slightly hazy amber, large creamy tan head, Aroma of toasted malt and honey. The taste is toasted malt, citrus, honey. Medium bodied, crisp. Solid.
