Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pours clear, amber-gold with a fine, white head. Sweet and bready nose, with some caramel. Medium sweet flavor, lightly leafy bitters, some caramel. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, some bread and caramel. Basic and very easy beer. Nothing wrong.

Bottle at Chriso Patriks Bday tasting. Clear light briwn. Lasting white head. Not a great aroma. Its a bit infected strong malt and then dies a bit. Bit of malty cake.

Cask@The New Wheatsheaf, London. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is quite a standard bitter one with some toffeeish notes as well. Flavour is sweet malts, some toffee, mild biscuity notes as well as some slight wooden and floral notes.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise, London. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a slight, off-white foam head. Filter coffee and roasted malt aroma. Lightly sweet flavor with dark, sour malts, which I’m not really into. Some light peat and roast. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sour malt finish, faint wood, peat, earth, roast. Hard to tell if this beer is in poor condition or if it’s just a poor British porter.

Bottle at home in London. Pours a crystal clear copper with a small, off-white head. Doughy malts on the nose, hints of ripe and rotten citrus, a little fruity booze. Flavor is alright, touches of toast and caramel, light sweetness, some leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild sugary finish, leafy and herbal hops, very light toast. Not offensive.

This time the nose has no pine and is basically toffee throughout. The rest is the same and there’s no change to the score! Previous rating 26/06/11 6/4/7/4/13 = 3.4 50cl bottle. Pours amber with a decent head and steady bubbles. The nose has pine with a little toffee. The taste has toffee, grapefruit and a pine finish. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a nice fresh finish - good! Overall, this is a tastey beer that could be sessioned.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium to dark orange amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity, straw notes, light hoppy, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100806]

Bottle from Sainsburys. Amber pour, white head. Strange aroma of sour milk with a bit of vanilla and cream which doesn’t give any hint towards what the flavour’s like- ginger, hops and a light bitterness. Bitter finish. Boring stuff.

(Cask at Edgar Wallace, London, 24 Nov 2010) Amber colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange, dried apricots and floral hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of apricots, floral hops and a light malt character with hints of crystal malt. Rather light body, with balanced sweetness. Refreshing and very drinkable. Quite nice.
