Description
In 2014, we started Verdant to make beers that we love. Nothing’s changed. It’s still about taste, quality, and all ’round deliciousness. Think juicy, hoppy, unfiltered, hazy beers that are always vegan! That’s us. Apart from the vegan bit. We’re bad at being vegan, but our beers are great at it. We’re independent, and always will be — that way we can continue to push boundaries and make beer we love, and hopefully you will love them too.

Can from St Albans beer shop, St Albans, Herts. A hazy light orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Grapefruit, tropical fruit on the nose. Tastes of grapefruit, orange, some tropical fruit, slightly bitter. Not much sweetness in this DIPA but still nice work from Verdant.

Can from The Beerhive. Hazy golden/amber body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of mango, pine, spring onion and pineapple. Flavour of orange, creamy malt and a hint of hop spice. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A solid IPA. My favourite Verdant beer so far.

330ml can from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Poured into a large ’Leffe’ badged chalice at home on 6th Mar 2017. Dull, misty golden pour, full white head. Dank, piney hop aroma and taste, some tropical fruit esters in the nose and flavour too, bitter and interesting.

Can. Hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, dry and sweetish. Nice nibbly hop spice. Spicy pine. Light orange and tangerine. Traces of lemon and mango. Light finish. Spicy bitter finish. Very well joined up. Verdant have well and truly arrived.

Can. Citra, Centennial and Chinook hops. Light haze on this gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is a little thin and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, light creamy sweetness. Nibbly hop spice. Tangy orange and tangerine and mild lemon. Modest tropical fruits. Dry smooth and slightly bitter finish. Bitterish linger. A little on the tangy side to be great but it is a good one.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from the Hop Locker. Pours mostly clear orange-gold with a foamy, white head. Good about, some semi-ripe citrus, tangerine, pale bread, mellow like. Light-medium sweet flavour with loads of juicy citrus character (though not to a comical extent), nice bready pale malt ballast, hints of watermelon, peach, more tangerine, balancing piney bitterness. Medium bodied with average, almost massaging carbonation. Finishes with pelasant piney resin, more juicy and ripe citrus fruits, understated bitterness, some oily pine, pale bread sugars. Overall, this is excellent. I wasn’t a massive fan of Verdant’s first few releases, but for me they seem to have made a few tweaks and are now really hitting their stride. Very exciting stuff.
