500ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, April 16, courtesy of Simon. Many thanks! Pours deep opaque brown, tan head. Lightly smokey aroma, taste is smooth, pleasant and lightly smokey. Some dark fruits. Not getting any toffee pudding tho.

Shared bottle at the April 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting. Dark brown body, off-white top. Smoky and herbal nose, smoky flavoured with a strange salty aftertaste. Different and not unpleasant.

330ml bottle into a ’Coors Banquet’ vase at home on 16th April 2016. Unfiltered and unpasteurised containing live yeast according to the label. Slight haze to the golden body, thin white topping that soon became a wisp. The nose is a floral posey with a malty undersmell. Taste similar, with a mini corn like flavour to add alongside the floral and maltiness. Mild yeasty esters late on as it warmed a little in the vase. OK but I struggle with ’Craft Lagers’ at the best of times.

Cask pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire on 30th March 2016. Clear amber/gold with a full and lasting white head. I thought the beer a bit bland to be honest, not a lot going on. The aroma was malt like with some fruity hop traces. The taste followed the same lines, light semi-sweet malts and a mild fruitiness, the finish had a slight bitterness.

On cask at the Armoury in Shrewsbury. Appearance - golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - orange and pale malt. Taste - more of the same. Loads of dried orange. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - the sum of the parts was good.

Bottle courtesy of dad (cheers dad!), consumed at home Easter Sunday 27th March 2016 in the company of Isobel, Dom and Georgia. Pours a slightly murky amber colour with a white/off-white head. Mhhh this is a strange one, A touch of boozy banana toffee on nose with something else that is a little petrol and or getting plasticy. Do not like this at all, a confused barrel aged mess, funny flavours, fruity, boozy, woody but the barrel ageing has totally swamped what was probably a damn good base beer, it just tastes artificial to me, not a fan at all, threw this away. Hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light, fairly dry and finely crisp. Slightly bready pale malts, mild sweetness. Floral bitter hop. just a trace of citrus. Light dry finish. Decent lager.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Sweetish dark malts, light and with some chocolate. Trace of toffee. Mild esters in the dry finish. No smoke. Has a certain charm but the ’slightly smoked salted caramel, chocolate, sticky toffee pudding porter’ claim is a bit boastful!

Opaque dark black - brown beer, good size bubbly tan head. Palate is light and fairly dry with a decent fine minerally crispness. The dark malts bring a little roast and dark malt cream. Well buried bitter dark chocolate. Molasses. Light Sorachi lemon that turns bitterish. Mild floral citrus on the very dry finish. Bitter linger. Interesting Stout
