Description

Bottle bought at Hogs Back Brewery shop of all places. Aroma is vinous, funky, with sweet grape juice. Hazy purple. Pretty much no head. A few translucent bubbles. Dry vinous sourness. Underlying jammy hints. Spice. Earthy. Light. Thin but sticky. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Decent. Interesting. Just doesn't blow me away.

Taster at the Hanging Bat. Dark burgundy/brown pour, small thin beige head. Aroma favors the red wine with soft chocolagty notes, while the taste features the sweet, silky chocolate accented by the wine. Sweet and sour, deep.

0.33 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, bottled in July 2021. Gusher! Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, sourish, rather fruity and gently vinous aroma of lemon, white wine, gooseberry and orange. A little sweet, moderately sour, rather fruity and gently vinous taste of gooseberry, overripe lemon, white wine, oak and some orange, followed by a short, moderately tart, rather woody-dry finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely grape ale, very well-balanced, extremely refreshing while providing for quite some complexity. Good!

Sweetish, malty, gently yeasty aroma of caramel, clove, some overripe banana and a touch of orange peel. Gently sweet, malty, slightly yeasty taste of caramel, nuts, light chocolate, clove, some overripe banana and traces of lemon peel, followed by a short, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly bitter, moderately dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant, very authentic, well-brewed as always.

0.44 l can from the brewery's web shop, best before October 2022. Hazy, orangeish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, gently fruity, quite dank aroma of sweat, green peppers, quince and mirabelle. Gently sweet, quite fruity, moderately dank, slightly juicy taste of passion fruit, mirabelle, yellow plum and light green peppers, followed by a short, hardly bitter finish. Medium body, very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Great NEIPA, maybe not the fruitiest one but very well-executed with interesting nuances and a rare discrepance between aroma and taste.
