12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light toffee/chocolate, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light toffee/chocolate, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, lightly sticky, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very good American brown ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Dark mahogany color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lace. Dark fruit, yeast and malt aroma. Medium body with flavors of raisin, mildly funky yeast, malt and subtle rum barrel. The finish is fruity with a rum raisin aftertaste. Above average overall.

12oz can. Wow, this is a really great Brown Ale. Deep amber-brown body. Steady off-white head. Smooth and creamy, big oak notes work perfectly with the sweet malts. An absolutely ideal Brown Ale, fresh and delicious. Full bodied but extremely drinkable. Excellent. World Class.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange body. Thin white head. Pretty balanced. Hefty malt backdrop, The yeast tones are reasonable, they scared me with the "phenolic" description on the bottle. Kind of an oddball beer, but in line with modern flavor profiles. OK.

12oz can. Filtered looking orange body. Thin, oily head. Pleasant juicy, tropical hop aroma. Doesn’t really come together quite as well as some of the new school World Class sour IPAs, but still an OK, modern beer. Mild steady lacto notes, pleasant tropical hops. Not much of a malt backdrop, pretty simplistic, thin. OK.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily to a wisp. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, caramel malt, fruit and a bit of earthy hop. The finish is moderately boozy with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. A- Subtle pomegranate, wheat, subtle citrus. A- Golden orange color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Alcohol, subtle wheat, subtle citrus. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, hot slightly tart finish. O- Ick. The label was the only thing I ended up enjoying about this beer. Pomegranate is non existent other than a tinge on the nose. The mouthfeel and taste is just alcohol burn. Lacks any sort of flavor at all. This was the 2015 version from a backlog rating, at least the bottle artwork was cool then.

Dark brown pour with a small and then it’s gone head of foam. I could blame it on the cold glass.

Smells mildly roasty with an also mild nose of chocolate.

Taste has both but again, very much on the mild side. Not much here to grab my attention or my palate.

Medium body and carbonation.

Okay. I drank it. Next.
