Description
The entire idea of Oriel Beer went back in 2015 when we created the brand and started to make the building from scratch. Oriel Beer is a small family brewery, fully operated by ourselves, located in Bucharest, Romania. The name Oriel comes from the archangel of light, wisdom, illumination and sun. He is a patron of the arts and science for his ability to inspire and one of the seven archangels who preside over the world. He sparked our mind with ideas and we created this beautiful project. Since we are a very small brewery, our production capacity is very limited and we can produce around 200 hectoliters per year, but we aim to expand in short time.

Flt, thin, has some medicinale aceton to it, peated, coffee, chocolade, cacao. Hmm

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, creamy, slowly diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Minimally BA supported, roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, some leather, a touch of liquorice, Armagnac. Taste is roasty and chocolately, dark malty with low residual sweetness, notes of dark chocolate, mild BA support with hints of Armagnac, a touch of leather; well hidden alcohol.
Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation.
Focussed, not overly complex - OK.

Bottle. Szaritott bor es nemi pinceszag, visszafogott gyumolcsosseg, kevesebb brett osszessegeben, mint amire szamitottam. Izben is laposka, ihato, nincs nagyobb hibaja, csak nem kifejezetten izgalmas.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Batch 11. Gusher alert. Aroma is yeasty and funky with fruity notes, brett funk, light pale malt, touch of apricot, light spicy/herbal. Flavour is lightly sweet and moderate bitter with a somewhat dry finish. Body is medium with lively carbonation. Nice one, bit Orval-ish.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is roasted malt with lots of chocolate, cocoa, touch of coffee, hint of dried fruit, caramel. I can definitely get behind the mention of pralines on the label. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a mild roasty bitterness and a little suggestion of yeastiness and tartness. Body is above medium, no sign of the 10%. Could be a bit more full, but... so nicely chocolate-y with a distinct 'Belgian twist'.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is caramel malt, Belgian yeast, dried fruits, candy sugar, some nutty notes, toffee. Flavour is medium sweet, lightly bitter. Body is medium. Solid Dubbel, these Romanian cats seem to understand Belgian styles well. Would like to see what they can do with Quadrupel.

Bottle from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Fairly spicy aroma with plenty of coriander, yeast, malt, suggestions of fruits, sugary notes. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light bitterness. Body is medium with high carbonation. Good approximation of a classic spicy Belgian Ale.

Bottle at Beer Station, Bucharest. Dark malt aroma with liquorice, whiskey, some oak, dried fruits, raisins, some chocolate even. Rich and sweet with a mild boozy sticky feel, bit syrupy. Pretty classy I'd say.
