Description
Hangar 24 began its craft brewing exploration with a true passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the pure enjoyment of being around great friends. My buddies and I used to meet at hangar No. 24 at the Redlands Municipal Airport, after an afternoon of flying, to trade stories, talk aviation, play music and share a few cold ones that were recently home brewed. These days, the location of where the beers are brewed has changed, but the quality time spent enjoying a delicious, handcrafted beer and conversation with friends is the same as ever. I personally want to invite you to join the adventure. Cheers! Ben Cook.

On tap at the Beer Baron. It pours a clear pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is lemony with orange and a touch of flowers. The flavor is light with a little lemon and herbal hops. Light bodied with crackery malts. Low to medium bitterness. A pretty mild, but good Session IPA.

Bottle @ home. Opaque dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium to full sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, cocoa, chocolate and a hint of dark grapes and raisins. Taste malts, chocolate, cocoa, a slight hint of vanilla and raisins, a slight hint of grapepeel and a decent bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. A bit thinner texture - wise as to what I had expected. Nice though.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong roast, tobacco, cocoa, bourbon. Medium mouth, vanilla, roast, chocolate, great barrel character but not over boozy, really enjoyed this one.

Bottle courtesy of milsem. Pours murky brownish red with a small reddish white head that leaves a very small trace on the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is malty, slightly fruity, tiny earthy and tiny funky with dark bread, caramel, lemon juice, dark grapes, moist hay, dry soil, minerals, leather, barnyard, grapeskins and lemon zest. Taste is very tiny sweet, sour, malty, slightly fruity and tiny funky. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, tart, mouth-puckering, tiny throat-burning and medium bodied. Finish sour with bready malts, red berries, leather and funk. Solid sour but perhaps a tad bit too sour for me and no offering much in complexity.

Bottle from Whole Foods, Santa Monica. Dark brown with a medium head. Aroma of light chocolate, malt and some "earth". Similar taste, also with some vanilla. Drinkable but nothing special.

Very much an American barley wine with the bitterness that goes with it. Heavy on the malts and plenty of barrel character to balance it.
