Bottle courtesy of Hackobock. Pours black with a small mocha head leaving both some sparse trace and prominent legs on the glass. Smell is intense, malty, fruity and boozy with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, butterscotch hard candy, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, raisins in rum, dried cherries, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, salty, malty, fruity and boozy. Mouthfeel is fat, oily, viscous, round, boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, roasted coconut, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, ammonium chloride, raisins in rum, fruity slightly dry sherry, minerals and brandy/bourbon alcohol. Compared to the regular version this almost feels dry. Reminds me of a complex sherry. More sophisticated than the original but also more challenging requiring more time and consideration to appreciate. Tasty but I think I prefer the simpler decadent original.

Bottle at Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2015, Ulfborg. Pours black with a ring brown head. Aroma of big bourbon and woody barrel notes with vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, molasses and coffee. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Full bodied with and oily and sticky mouthfeel as well as very noticeable alcohol warmth. Light carbonation. Really good but the barrel is a little too overpowering.

22oz bomber pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a smooth thin spike of dark fruity esters and then chocolate followed by an earthy malt note and dark roasted almost coffee like maltiness. The taste delivers nice dark roasted malts blended evenly with chocolate and then rolling toward smooth sweet vanilla. It gets a little molasses candy here and there as it heads toward the finish. Nice.
