hazy amber-brown, aroma is an odd mix of smoke, rich caramel/toffee malt and light bubblegum. There’s even a hint of alcohol in there. Yeasty more than anything with a thin body and background polyphenols that shouldn’t be there. The "scotch ale" part of the brew comes through in rich toffeeish malt and some toasted caramels. The problem is the Belgian side of this, which is really not adding anything to those malts other than distraction.

Draught @ Draft House, 206-208 Tower Bridge Road, London, Greater London, England, SE1 2UP.Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, pale malt, moderate hoppy, grass, citrus, hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121206] 7-3-6-3-14 Bottle 330ml.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, toasted - caramel, moderate hoppy, grass, citrus. GBBF Day 2. Bottle. Don’t remember who brought this but thanks! Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is softish and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Creamy dark malt, little dried fruits, Whisper of dark chocolate. Light dry finish. Decent!

Bottle 33 cl from a centrally located bottle shop in Melbourne I didn’t note the name of. Sampled on July 26, 2013.Edit, it was apparently "vintage cellars - little bourke street (chinatown)".Clear golden color, white head. Sweet, malty scent. Malty, sweet taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Draught as a pot size at Embassy Craft Beer Bar, Brisbane. On July 23, 2013.As "Stone & Wood Stone Beer" at 7.2% ABV.Very dark reddish brown to pretty much black color, dark brown head. Sweet, light roasted, herbal, grainy taste. Grainy, cocoa aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet, smooth, a bit smoked scent.

Draught at "Steyne" (or similar), second floor, where they have the dark beers. The big brick building close to Manly Beach, Manly, Sydney. On July 14, 2013.Cloudy copper color, tan head. Sweet, solvents scent. Grainy, dry, fruity taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness, dry. Dry, drywall aftertaste.

Draught, part of a tasting paddle, at Union Hotel in Newtown, Sydney, on July 11, 2013.Hazy copper color, tan head. Hoppy, malty, a bit roasted taste. Mineral, malty aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel with a bit high co2, medium bitterness to the dry side. Sweet, malty, fruity scent.
