Glasshouse Beer Co
Microbrewery
in Birmingham,
West Midlands,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Glasshouse Brewery Tap
Established in 2018
Graduating from Josh’s mum’s greenhouse in 2018 (where the brewery gets its name), GlassHouse had a rocky period over the pandemic but managed to push through by producing a great range of cans.
GlassHouse beer isn’t fined or filtered, and while it has been known to produce a milk stout or two, its beers are typically vegan. While they’re available nationally, the team’s glare is firmly fixed on improving and supporting the Birmingham beer scene.

Draught take out from the Rusty Bucket Pub, Eltham. Cloudy gold pour with a white head. Nose is peach, tropical fruit, butter, corn, grapefruit. Taste is lemon zest, peach, pink grapefruit, apricot. A veritable fruit punch in the finish.

440ml crowler direct from the brewery. Murky gold, small white head, some retention. Big dank and herb aroma with a softer fruity passionfruit and mango then coming in. It has a good full body which is a sticky on the palate with the tropical fruits coming through from the off, semi sweet with a moderate bitterness for an IPA. Lovely fresh hops here. My only criticism is the front and back of the taste is similar, it would be even better with a developing flavour or a bitterness that build up to add to the experience.

440ml crowler direct from the brewery. Deep red/purple, brief pink head. Aroma of cherries and almonds/marzipan. Taste is fresh tart cherries at the fore and a more fruity blackcurrant note in the background. Underlying this is a nice smooth body. Finish is a combination of the tart and fruitiness with a little bitter kick. Fresh, fruity and refreshing with just enough beer elements to make this a erm... beer. At this time of year there was a temptation to warm it up like a mulled wine. I resisted this experiment.

440ml crowler. Murky gold, small white head, nice retention. Aroma of peach and pine in the main, but also maybe melon and tangerine. Taste is malty, fruity and aromatic with peach and pine again to the fore, some grapefruit. Smooth texture with slight chewiness, soft carbonation. Some lovely fresh hops in this. Not a beer I could session as it is quite aromatic, but a bit like a good stout or porter I could savour this mid-evening after a long day. Lovely.

440ml crowler direct from brewery. Pours hazy yellow-gold, small white head. Mango, peach and pine, quite fresh. Its fruity with slight citrus tartness, fairly smooth and clean, nice bitter pine finish, carbonation a little high at first but settles. As with most single hop pales there are no real surprises here but this one is well made.

440ml crowler direct from brewery. Hazy gold, small white head, some lacing. Aroma of malts, mango, grapes and pine. Taste follows same path and is juicy, smooth, semi-chewy body, soft carbonation. A punchy bitterness. Good stuff.
