Description
Created in Birmingham in 2016 by cousins Josh and Calum, GlassHouse Beer Co. has grown in leaps and bounds on the back of its innovative vegan beers.

Graduating from Josh’s mum’s greenhouse in 2018 (where the brewery gets its name), GlassHouse had a rocky period over the pandemic but managed to push through by producing a great range of cans.

GlassHouse beer isn’t fined or filtered, and while it has been known to produce a milk stout or two, its beers are typically vegan. While they’re available nationally, the team’s glare is firmly fixed on improving and supporting the Birmingham beer scene.

Keg draught at Martin Bros Micropizzeria. Light cream/yellow colour, hazy with a thin layer of white head. Lots of gentle Citra aroma, some white grapefruit, lemon zest, a little pineapple, tied together with vanilla malt. Similar taste profile, sweet with soft citrus, more vanilla, fading to a short balanced finish. Light body with spritzy carbonation. I really dig this one.

440ml can from Left Field Beer, Solihull and shared in Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is grainy, tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, somewhat watery, fresh, mineral, light herbal, mango, stone fruit, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Tap at Wolf, Birmingham. Hazy light orange-gold with thin white head. Has an interesting grapefruit and shortbread biscuit like flavour with a late fruity hop burst. Slightly drying, medium bodied. Good.
