[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A dark chestnut pour with a tight beige head; aroma of brown sugar and raisins; earthy malt taste to start, then some sultanas and sweetness before a dry finish with a woody bitterness. A nice dark bitter.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Has a nice creamy, roasty aroma with vanilla prominent. Quite sweet in the mouth, with dark fruits and liquorice featuring. Eventually, some vanilla and rraces of bitter coffee come through as well. Finish is quite fruity. Nice to have a stout with some stout character for a change !
