Description
Founded in 2017 Three Hills Brewing is experimental at itโ€™s core. We produce small batches, in a variety of styles, pushing boundaries to create the most interesting drinks we can for our customers to enjoy.

Our HQ is based in the countryside of Northamptonshire where we have 600l system, counter pressure canning machine, laboratory, barrel ageing program & cold store.

In 2020, we expanded into The Outpost, a new brewery with taproom on the Bermondsey beer mile.

Three Hills entered liquidation in May 2025.

Can. Near clear dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Airy palate, smooth and getting on for semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin bodied dark malts, trace of dark chocolate. Raspberry is front and centre here. Both tart and jammy and impressively rich. The whiskey barrel adds a ripe fruity complexity but, it is second fiddle to the raspberry. Well then, this is a big ol' fruit beer really. Amusing.

Can. Almost clear dark brown beer, a decent bubbly tan head. Doesn't last. Fairly light palate, minerally crisp. Doesn't feel very Impy on the palate. Bitter dark chocolate from the thin bodied dark malts. It's a 10% Impy but if you told me this was 16%, In would likely believe, really quite hot for the abv. Earthy bitter hazelnuts come through loud and clear on the back end. I don't know about banana but, there is an off chemical taste on the crisp finish. A mess.

Can. Not quite opaque dark brown beer, a good bubbly tan head but doesn't hang about. Crisp palate, mildly dry. Pretty crisp for the style, distractingly so for me. Somewhat thin bodied dark malts. Plenty of chocolate, a little dark chocolate, touch of milk chocolate. Some artificial chocolate. Tangy chocolate. Chocolate syrup. Almond used sparingly and only comes through on the back end. Not bad. This series was so good when it started but the the wheels fell off. This was one of the last I bought and if memory serves, it's better than the few that preceded it.

Can, at Patrick's. Sweet, lightly spiced, lightly warming, full bodied. Tonka? Vanilla, cinnamon, cardamon and dark chocolate. Brown sugar and some toffee. Nice. Too sweet. Still nice. 747414 260424

Keg draught at the Way Station, Thrapston. Black, or very dark brown anyway, with almost no head. Aroma of sweet perfumed coconut, vanilla. Taste is more complex: it has the intense sweetness but it's drawn back by the competition of almost burnt malt. Toast, treacle. Small sips bring out the subtleties. Thick oily body with little carbonation. Not one of their best but still a very good stout.

Keg draught at the Way Station, Thrapston. Very light colour, almost straw. Clear with an small uneven white head and good lacing. Lemony aroma, notes of graining vanilla. Fresh taste with a yeasty character, sweet, more lemon. Light bitterness in the finish. Gentle body with medium carbonation. Not an overly exciting Helles but certainly competent.

Keg draught as Shoe in the Way Station, Thrapston. Reddish mid-brown with some haze to it. Small khaki head. Oaky aroma, some cherry. Sweet taste, woody and fruity, maybe a touch of strawberry. Lightest note of hunk. Light to medium body with heavy carbonation. Boy do I miss Three Hills.
